It’s never too late and you’re not too old
Have you ever thought that you are simply ‘too old’ to change careers? Do you fear that it’s too late to become successful or find work that feels meaningful? Perhaps you stay at your current job even though you’re over it, but it’s easier to stay with what you know?
I get it. The comfort zone is just that. Comforting. Sticking with what we have done for years and created a career out of often seem like the easier choice. We may fear we will be wasting all those years or that career we’ve invested in by doing a 180 and going in a new direction.
But what if it could all be so much better? What if you could finally do something that feels meaningful and more like you?
Don’t get me wrong, it is scary leaving an old version of you behind. I did. Most of my old colleagues and friends look at me confused wondering what the hell I’m doing these days because it’s so different from my past career and tbh, most of them simply don’t understand what I do. And that’s ok. The only thing that matters is what I know is right for me.
If you are considering changing careers, but may be hesitant, let me give you a few examples of people who did make a change or became successful later in life.
⭐️ Samuel L. Jackson became an overnight sensation with the hit movie Pulp Fiction. He was 46 when that happened.
⭐️ Julia Child, a chef, author and media personality. She worked in media and advertising when she decided to learn how to cook. She ended up becoming a famous celebrity chef with her own TV show and published her first cookbook at age 50.
⭐️ Vera Wang. A figure skater and journalist who decided to become a fashion designer in her forties.
⭐️ Eric Yuan was the VP of Engineering at Cisco Systems. He created and launched Zoom at age 41.
