Healthy ageing and the relationship between career and wellness

I recently heard someone say “I’m in my wellness era.”

I also recently heard someone else say they were against the anti-ageing messaging we see in our society and they prefer being pro “healthy ageing.”

I love that. We all know we are gonna age, yet we look for ways to “anti-age.” We also tend to take our health for granted until one day, we might struggle with our health.

This is why part of my mission is to include wellness (mental, physical, emotional) in my work as a career and business mentor. Because we cannot have a sustainable career and work-life balance if we don’t take care of our health.

Today, there is such a pressure on us to be ‘on’ all the time, to perform, achieve, deliver, do it all. I’ve experienced burnout on numerous occasions, even in my own business that is only 3 years old. I know I am a Projector in business, I understand what that means. I am here to see, not do according to Ra. Yet, it’s harder to implement sometimes when you are also a mother to a toddler. My little family also struggles with an autoimmune illness that impacts our daily life.

Only working 4 hours a day (as Projectors are told to do according to most of the generic info out there) simply doesn’t make sense if you are a first time business owner (or full-time employee at a company). Especially in the start-up phase in your business when you get to (aka have to) wear all the hats. You are the bookkeeper, content creator, CEO, marketing manager, social media manger on top of your actual role (in my case, guiding clients).

This past year, I’ve had to review and redo my work structure so I can better take care of my stress levels and have more time to go slow and do things that gives me energy. I will share more about ways you can structure your week in the podcast, but in the meantime, reflect on your own work/life balance.

🪷 Do you have a wellness routine? Remember that a routine should simply be a ritual, not a long checklist to tick off during the day.

🪷 Do you prioritize things that light you up or do you only focus on getting things done?

🪷 What small changes can you start implementing today that will support your well-being?

When we slow down it becomes easier to make good decisions in both career and life. When we slow down we step into our body and we can hear it. We can feel it. Were can trust it 💚
